A New Era of AI Adoption in India?

In a significant development, Reliance Industries’ Jio Platforms has announced its partnership with the graphics processing unit (GPU) giant Nvidia to work on building a large language model trained on India’s diverse languages. This collaboration marks a major step towards expanding India’s presence in the fast-growing AI space.

A Powerful AI Infrastructure

The companies will also work together to build an AI infrastructure that is "over an order of magnitude more powerful than the fastest supercomputer in India today." The cloud infrastructure, which does not have a time frame for completion, will provide accelerated computing access to researchers, developers, startups, scientists, AI experts, and others throughout India.

Comprehensive AI Solutions

As part of the deal, Nvidia will equip Jio with comprehensive AI supercomputer solutions, including the Nvidia GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip and Nvidia DGX Cloud. Additionally, frameworks for crafting advanced AI models will be provided by Nvidia. In turn, Jio will be responsible for managing the AI cloud infrastructure and handling customer interactions and access.
